The Department of Japanese Language and Literature at Chinese Culture University was established in 1963, making it the earliest such department among domestic universities in Taiwan.
The department places great emphasis on international exchanges and stresses the learning and practical application of the Japanese language. In response to changing times, it offers many unique courses. Over the past 60 years, it has nurtured numerous talents for Japanese-Taiwanese exchanges.
In addition to nurturing the five linguistic skills of listening, speaking, reading, writing, and translating, our department further fosters global-minded and diversely skilled talents through a rich variety of interdisciplinary specialties and modular courses, as well as through international exchange opportunities.
Our departmental curriculum is structured as follows: the first and second years focus on basic and advanced Japanese language courses. In the third and fourth years, the curriculum is employment-oriented, offering specialized and practical courses in three major areas: Japanese Language and Culture, Japanese Tourism and Culture, and Japanese Business and Trade. Concurrently, by integrating courses from our school's Business, Management, and Tourism modules, we aim to develop a broad range of skills in our students.
Our department offers an Applied Japanese Industry Internship course, collaborating with well-known enterprises both domestically and internationally to provide students with hands-on corporate experience.
For instance, students can undertake internships at local small and medium-sized enterprises during the academic term or travel to Japan for overseas workplace internships during the summer break.
