Introduction 學系介紹

The Department of European and American Languages is a newly founded department that trains multilingual professionals with cross-cultural and interdisciplinary capabilities. We provide a learning environment where students are immersed in language learning, multicultural literacy, and professional knowledge.

Our training empowers students with diverse skills in communication, innovation, and practical applications, preparing them for future advancement in higher education or a wide variety of careers.

Teaching Characteristics 教學特色

We prepare our students with the skills to communicate across cultural barriers and collaborate with people of different nationalities. Through our training, students may improve their English literacy, establish proficiency in French or Russian, and broaden their knowledge of European and American countries and cultures. We provide:

  1. Courses on literature, culture, and professional knowledge in English-speaking areas—to develop competence for global competition
  2. Training in the French language and Francophone cultures—to establish cross-cultural communication skills
  3. Immersive learning in the Russian language, society, and culture—to expand cultural literacy and global vision.
We hope to unlock their potential and equip them with the skills and vision to confront new challenges and compete with young generations worldwide.

Course Highlights 課程重點

  1. To provide students with knowledge of European and American societies, cultures, and development; to enhance literacy in the humanities; and to expand their global vision with interdisciplinary and cross-cultural insights.
  2. To equip students with critical thinking, expression, and communication skills; to improve their motivation and self-learning capabilities.
  3. To help students develop abilities in problem analysis, goal-setting, decision-making, negotiation, evaluation, and collaboration; and to prepare them for future careers.
To offer diversified courses; to build their abilities to use AI and information technology; to help them acquire practical or industry-related experiences; and to enhance their career competitiveness.

  1. Students may take industry cooperation or career development courses that provide internships and prepare them for career competency and future job opportunities.
  2. We also provide opportunities for overseas internships.
  3. Future Development and Career Options:
    1. Higher-degree Attainment: Master’s and doctoral programs in domestic or overseas universities.
    2. Career Development
      • Civil Servants: Taking the civil service examinations and working at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Education, National Immigration Agency, Overseas Community Affairs Council, Investigation Bureau, National Security Bureau, Fine Arts Museum, etc.
      • Industries:
        • Culture Sector: publishing, journalism, translation & interpretation, fashion, design, cultural and creative industries, etc.
        • Business Sector: trade and business, financial industry, e-commerce, marketing, service industry, etc.
        • Service Sector: tourism, hospitality, travel agencies, media & entertainment, telecommunication, transportation, etc.
        • Education: language teaching (English, French, Russian, and Chinese), school administration, elementary education, secondary education, etc.

Scholarships 獎學金

  1. Professor Hu Pinching’s Memorial Scholarship:
    Awarded in the second semester of each academic year. The awards go to those students who rank in the top three places in French language courses in their sophomore, junior, or senior year. The first-place student will be awarded NT$20,000, the second NT$12,000, and the third NT$8,000; those who rank fourth to sixth in French language courses will also be awarded NT$5,000.
  2. Wang Chi-ping Scholarship for the Financially Disadvantaged and Outstanding Students:
    Awarded in the first semester of each academic year. The award will endow those financially disadvantaged but outstanding students with NT$10,000 to encourage them to pursue excellence in learning.
  3. Legacy Scholarship:
    The scholarship supports students whose academic performances are excellent but who are facing emergencies and need support.
  4. Russian Exchange Program Scholarship:
    Tuition and accommodation expenses will be waived for those participating in the Russian Exchange Program.
  5. Russian Government Scholarship:
    Senior students are eligible for application. Those who win the scholarship will receive full-tuition support from the Russian government for a master’s degree (including the pre-Master’s program).
  6. European & American Scholarship for International Exchange:
    tudents participating in overseas short-term study or exchange programs will be awarded NT$2,000-10,000.
