Introduction 學系介紹

The Department of Theater Arts was established in 1963. It is one of the first 15 departments of the Chinese Culture University, and it is also the first one in the history of Taiwan’s theater education. In 1971, it was restructured into the Film and Theater division of the Department of Drama.

On the basis of the original drama courses, film courses were added. In 1999, it was reorganized back into the Department of Theater Arts until now. Our teachers are all excellent creative talents in Taiwan, and also have rich teaching experience. Professional courses include theory, performance, directing, screenwriting, theater design and technology, art and theater administration, and applied drama. Students can choose courses according to their interests and career development.

The department has a long history, giving full play to the advantages of a comprehensive university, showing the spirit of innovation and the vitality of running a school. In addition to professional courses, students can choose related courses across departments and colleges.

Future 未來發展

The establishment of this department aims to cultivate theater generalists with humanistic literacy, who can display their talents in theater arts, performing arts, film and television and other fields after graduation.

  • Advanced study:
    You can apply for various theater and art-related research institutes in Taiwan, or go abroad for advanced studies in theater arts, film, art, communication, television, visual arts and other fields.
  • Employment:
    You can take part in public service examinations or cultural and art-related institutions, such as theater troupes, foundations, film and television communication companies, advertising companies, and television stations, and you can also work in middle school art education. In addition, you can also use your own major to start your own business.

Scholarships 獎學金

  • Professor Wang Shengshan Memorial Scholarship is awarded to 2 students per year, NT4,000 for the first place and NT2,000 for the second place.
  • Dream Project Scholarship to one student per year with a round-trip air ticket (maximum NT30,000).

Cooperation Project 實習與產學合作

  1. The department cooperates with the Okinawa Children's Art Festival, and selects students to participate in internships during the summer vacation every academic year.
  2. Each performance venue or troupe recruits interns or work-study students from time to time, and relevant information will be announced to students.
