The Department of Chinese Literature was established in June 1963, making it one of the first 15 departments founded at the university. The department's educational goals focus on inheriting and promoting traditional culture and scholarship, emphasizing the accumulation of humanistic literacy, and advancing the application of literature and the development of Chinese language teaching.
The teaching approach prioritizes a strong foundation, avoiding superficiality, and guides students toward proper methodologies. This aims to achieve the objectives of learning from the past to understand the future, reviewing the old to gain new insights, and ultimately realizing the practical and digital transformation of literature.The department offers a comprehensive academic structure, including undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programs. Additionally, students can apply for an integrated bachelor's-master's five-year program to shorten the time required to complete a master's degree.
