Introduction 學系介紹

The Department of Korean Language and Literature was founded in 1963, and it is one of the earliest departments established at PCCU. The curriculum mainly focused on language training in listening, speaking, reading, and writing during our early stages.

In recent years, we have begun to focus on correspondence practical skills, and courses in translation and interpretation are being strengthened too. Furthermore, we also established courses in Korean studies and relevant courses across fields to meet the needs of society. In addition, our department also established a master's program in 1989. To encourage outstanding students to continue their further studies, our department has provided a five-year combined master's degree to apply.

Teaching Characteristics 教學特色

Our department has signed sister school agreements with 47 universities in South Korea. Our students can apply to exchange programs at the sister schools, their students can do likewise to PCCU, and credits are recognized mutually. Students from our department can apply for joint-double degree and exchange programs in sister schools in Korea since sophomore year, so they can improve their Korean language ability and adapt well to Korean society and culture.

Over the years, our department has cultivated many professionals in the Korean language and Korean studies. They play an important role in enhancing national competitiveness and promoting cultural exchanges between Taiwan and South Korea.

Our department provides professional core courses and diversity elective courses to meet the development goals. Besides that, to improve students' professional practical ability and adapt well to company culture, we have invited industry leaders to do co-teaching in certain courses.

Scholarships 獎學金

• 中韓文化經濟協會獎學金
  This scholarship provides 15000NTD per academic year, available only for Junior and Senior students to apply. (4 quotas in each grade, 8 quotas in total)
• 赴韓研習韓語文獎學金
  This scholarship is established by the government of South Korea since 2012, which offer chances to study Korean at 10 Korean universities designated for one year. Only 1 quota available in each university.
• 薪傅獎學金
  5000 NTD awarded to outstanding or disadvantaged students to provide them with the necessary assistance so they can complete their studies. Only a few quotas are available each year.
• 外語能力優秀獎學金
  5000 NTD is awarded to students who score excellent result in Test of Proficiency in Korea (TOPIK),
