Department of Journalism

Introduction 學系介紹
The Department of Journalism, with a history spanning over 60 years, is dedicated to nurturing modern journalism professionals equipped with independent thinking and strong humanistic values. The department's teaching, research, and curriculum design are guided by two core pillars: fostering "diverse humanistic qualities and critical thinking skills" and upholding the "principles and practices of professional news communication."
Simultaneously, the department established the Journalism Institute with the goal of cultivating communication professionals who possess specialized expertise and strong independent research skills. To expand learning opportunities, the department has introduced a five-year integrated program, allowing students to begin taking graduate-level courses in their fourth year and earn a master’s degree by the end of the fifth year.
Teaching Characteristics 教學特色
The department’s curriculum emphasizes the concept of "convergent media," providing students with extensive hands-on experience through practical courses in four major internship platforms: Culture Weekly, Huagang Broadcasting Station, Huagang TV Station, and Huagang Convergent Media. Additionally, students are now trained to integrate artificial intelligence into their work, enhancing their ability to adapt to the evolving demands of modern media industries.
We strive to transcend the boundaries and formats of traditional media by fostering collaboration among our internship media outlets. This approach encourages students to work together in producing news content, preparing them to seamlessly adapt to the rapidly evolving trends in the news and communication industry after graduation.
